About Us
The Charondo family has a long heritage of working with granite.  Born to Portuguese parents in Mozambique, a
country in Southeast Africa, Tony learned his craft from his father, Eduardo Charondo, a prominent contractor.
Because asphalt and concrete were so expensive in Europe and Africa, granite was commonly used in construction
(even for city streets) and all elements of finishing work.

Tony Charondo, and his family arrived here in Tracy, California late in the evening of December 24, 1983, and the
first thing they did was go to Midnight Mass, "The church was full of people when we got there...I'll never forget it."
Eduardo and Tony Charondo soon opened their own stone fabrication shop, T.C. Classic Granite and Marble, which
has evolved through the years to become Tracy Design Center, operated by Tony's wife Gloria Charondo.
Tracy Design Center is located in the historic West Side Bank building at 47 W. 6th Street in Tracy, California.
Today, three generations of European craftsmanship, attention to detail, and sophisticated state of the art equipment
combine to give customers the finest service and products available.  "People come in and look at the stone and
choose what appeals to them," says Tony.  Tracy Design Center owns a quarry in Brazil, and imports granite from all
over the world to give customers the widest selection possible.
